Green Team Leaders

Our Green Team Leaders program is an opportunity for youth to gain skills in urban farming, woodworking and the arts while learning about environmental stewardship in their community. High school students receive volunteer hours for their Ontario Secondary School Diplomas and college/university students gain experience for job references. Committed volunteers receive an honorarium at the end of the season to recognize their hard work and dedication to our gardens.

Through outdoor education, arts, and trades programs, we aim to support our neighbourhood’s youth, in becoming skilled, knowledgeable and connected to nature. They will learn all there is to know about urban farming and environmental stewardship while sharing in the harvest throughout the season.

Want to join our Green Team? Register or drop in at our garden during the weekend!

53 TPD Garden and 71 TPD Garden are open every Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. from April to October.

“By working together, we can achieve so much more”

Community gardening is a cornerstone of fostering unity and connection among community members. Coming together to work on the gardens and sharing the harvest strengthens bonds, creating a sense of  shared purpose. When we collectively contribute to the growth of the garden and then share the fruits of our labour. We are fostering a deeper sense of community and demonstrating the power of collaboration.

Working in these interesting gardens has indeed taught me a lot and I have made many good friends. I will never regret working in these gardens. In fact, I eagerly look forward to signing up for more opportunities like these, knowing that they not only enrich my life but also contribute positively to the community we all share.
