Children’s Learning

TPUF’s Children’s Garden Club offers a fun, hands-on outdoor learning experience where children can explore nature, grow food, and develop a sense of care for the environment. Through guided garden activities, storytelling, planting, and creative play, children learn where food comes from while building confidence, curiosity, and connection to their community. These sessions provide a welcoming space for children and families to engage with nature and experience the joy of learning in the garden.

Our children’s programs rely on the active support and involvement of parents, caregivers, and Green Team Leaders. We warmly welcome volunteers to assist during sessions and help create a safe, engaging, and supportive learning environment. If you enjoy working with children and spending time outdoors, we invite you to join us and be part of nurturing the next generation of environmental stewards.

Kinder Learning

We partner with local institutions to offer children’s garden programs for our community’s younger population to encourage outdoor education, and familiarize families with our communal gardens. Each year, we host garden sessions for kindergarten students at the Fraser Mustard Early Learning Academy (FMELA). We have hosted garden sessions at the Montessori Education Centre Ltd. for children under the age of five. Throughout the summer months, we host weekly children’s garden club sessions at 53 Thorncliffe Park Drive to promote environmental education and awareness.

“My heart was filled with such joy”

There are so many opportunities to wonder, discover, and learn in this space. As well, it is such a wonderful place for making connections to people, nature, and the community. We had a positive response from the parents that attended. I loved the connection the parents made to their own experiences, language, and childhood as we discussed the names of vegetables and plants.

We are incredibly grateful to our supporters! Collectively, we make an impact on a high-needs community in many different aspects.
