Composting Initiative

With the support of the Community Composting Program (CCP), we initiated a resident-led composting stewardship program in 2024. Our goal was to minimize organic waste from being disposed of within landfills by converting it into compost soil for our gardens to grow on. Since most apartment buildings in Thorncliffe Park do not have green bins, our initiative encouraged 25 households to participate in our composting workshops. Since this program started we have collected over 3,000 pounds of organic waste. We continue to inform residents about composting through our program, involve volunteers, and collect organic waste on a weekly basis.

Join our educational workshops led by a composting consultant or pick up a free countertop bin for green waste collection!

53 TPD Garden and 71 TPD Garden are open every Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. from April to October.

We are incredibly grateful to our supporters! Collectively, we make an impact on a high-needs community in many different aspects.
