Join Thorncliffe Park Urban Farmers for hands-on composting workshops and learn how to turn food scraps into nutrient-rich soil for our community gardens. \nThese interactive sessions will cover the basics of composting\, including: \n\nWhat can and cannot be composted\nHow to balance greens and browns\nHow compost supports healthy soil and plant growth\nWays to reduce household food waste\nHow our community compost system works\n\nParticipants will have the opportunity to see our compost system in action and take part in building and maintaining compost piles. \nWhether you’re new to composting or looking to deepen your knowledge\, these workshops are open to all ages and experience levels. \nDates:May 9\, 23 & 31June 13 & 20July 11 & 25August 15 & 22September 12 \nTime: 10 AM – 1 PMLocation: Garden behind 53 Thorncliffe Park Drive \nPlease dress appropriately for outdoor activities and wear closed-toe shoes. \nIn case of cancellation due to weather\, updates will be shared on our WhatsApp group and Instagram. \nLet’s reduce waste\, build healthy soil\, and grow together 🌱♻️

SUMMARY:Advanced Gardening Program - Registration
DESCRIPTION:Thorncliffe Park Urban Farmers (TPUF) is piloting an Advanced Gardening Program designed to support participants in building deeper knowledge and skills in environmental stewardship and ecologically focused gardening principles. This program will provide hands-on learning opportunities\, guidance from an experienced pollinator steward\, and practical strategies to enhance environmental restoration practices within urban settings like the Thorncliffe Park community.\nAs a participant\, you will:\n• Learn about native\, Indigenous\, non-native\, and invasive plant and insect species.\n• Participate in hands-on environmental restoration projects such as invasive species removal and native species planting.\n• Explore local green spaces\, including TPUF’s pollinator gardens alongside the residential properties of 53 and 71 Thorncliffe Park Drives.\n• Participants who demonstrate strong commitment may receive honorariums of up to $500.\n\nYouth and adults are welcomed.\nProgram Details 🌿\nOpen Season: Saturday\, June 15th\nDays: Every Saturday until October 2026\nTiming: 10am – 1pm\nLocations: Gardens behind 53 Thorncliffe Park Drive & 71 Thorncliffe Park Drive \n \nMeet in the garden behind 53 Thorncliffe Park Drive for each session.\n\nJoin us for a season of hands-on environmental stewardship\, skill-building\, and meaningful community engagement as we work together to restore and sustain our urban green spaces!\n\nQuestions?
